Another Extreme Heat Wave could hit MTL

Mother Nature has treated us to an exceptionally warm fall season.

Just when we thought the weather was going back to normal, it looks like southern Quebec could get another unseasonable heat wave this month. After a record-breaking September, could October also deliver abnormally high temperatures?

If we’re to believe the Weather Network’s 30-day forecast, the 5-day period from October 19 to 23 could be unseasonably hot; not quite the heat wave we got in September, but still 10-15°C hotter than seasonal averages. That would translate to temperatures around 20-25°C!

The last time it got that hot in October was in 1979, when temperatures peaked for 48 hours.

PLUS, just to make things extra weird, the Weather Network is also raising flags for this weekend, saying Quebec might get the first snowfall of the season this weekend. Granted, snowfall is forecast for Eastern Quebec only this weekend, with warmer temperatures continuing to grace the Montreal area until at least October 22.

Let me get this straight… Snowfall BEFORE a 20-25°C heat wave? Weird!

Still, we should expect to brace for a chilly Halloween as usual. After all, if you lower your expectations, you’re less likely to end up disappointed!
