People are Tying Scarves to Trees for the Best Reason

Every year in North America, the cold temperatures, ice and snow have terrible effects on the homeless and the poor. Those who can’t afford a place to live are often forced into cramped shelters, and when they can’t find room in one, they simply freeze outside, wearing whatever they can get their hands on.

In the small town of Seymour, Indiana, locals have started a movement to help those in need of warm winter clothing. Scarves tied around trees or lamp posts are intended for those in need to take one.

The scarves often include little notes inviting people to help themselves if they need something warm to wear.
